Patricia M. Goins  Biography

Biography: I am a native of Columbus, Ohio and mother of four beautiful young adults. I have also lived in other cities such as Atlanta and Chicago. I am an artist who wears many hats, I sing, host events such as Hookup Atlanta, and Facebook social media groups such as the Ohio Music Industry and The Atlanta Muzic Industry. I also produce films, write books, do motivational speaking, and also host a podcast called On The Move Unscripted with my partner Mr. Stout that airs every Wednesday at 8pm EST on blogtalkradio.com/patriciagoins. Mr. Stout also produced alot of the music on my new album.

After 20 years I finally released my first album titled The Journey. The album represents the 20 plus year Journey God took me on when I first took a step of faith and left Columbus, Ohio. My first hit single was Superwoman produced by Atlanta Music Producer Mr. Hanky.

Have you always been interested in music? What is your story
and how did you start making music? I have loved music ever since I was a young child. I use to stay up late at night every night and listen to the radio until fell asleep. As a teenager I would watch music videos all day long. Music has always been my first love. However for many years I was very stage fright. I would never sing at talent shows growing up. I didn’t start singing until I turned 31 and moved to Atlanta in 1999. Atlanta brought out the creative side of me. When I moved to Chicago and joined Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes’s live events in 2015, that’s when I can say I truly became a performer.
What are you working on now? Any future releases we can look
forward to? I just released a new song February 19th on my birthday called Skate Rock & Roll featuring my son 1WayZayee. I am working on new music to release through Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes. I can’t release the name because it has not been released yet. I am also still promoting my new album the Journey that just came out. I have a few events coming up this year. The music video for my new song Skate Rock & Roll reached over 30,000 views in its first month which is exciting.

What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? To go as far as God allows me and reach as many people around the world with my music ministry as possible. I want to bring back the love in music. I also want to help promote other artists get discovered as I promote myself. This is the reason I started my business Around The World Media and created the Atlanta Muzic Industry, Ohio Music Industry on Facebook, and started my podcast On The Move Unscripted. I also began hosting my annual Hookup Atlanta events to help promote talent. I want indie artists from around the globe to be discovered and respected for our craft and hard work.

What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far? Getting paid fairly for my digital music and landing paid events. I feel that indie artists are robbed, mistreated ,and sometimes overlooked in the music industry. I have carved a lane for myself as far as events go by hosting my own events in different cities such as Chicago, Atlanta, and Ohio.

How do you go about writing a song? Do you have a melody in
your head and then write the other music for it or what’s Your typical
songwriting process? For me it’s the beat. The beat brings the lyrics. All my songs are freestyled to the beat first. I record what I sing and then go back and listen and write down the lyrics. It’s the first words and melodies that comes to me the first time I hear the beat that creates my songs.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business? Digital streaming and digital platforms hurt the indie artists to a degree even though it allowed the artists to widen their reach to cities and countries outside their home town. When they stopped selling CD’s it robbed the artists of being able to make money in the streets. I still encourage artists to get back to selling CD’s and USB Flash drives etc.

What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music? I have been a nurse for 30 years. I currently work at a treatment center for individuals dealing with substance abuse and mental health.

Would you have any advice for young people wanting to follow
in your footsteps? Develop your brand.
Copyright your music
Promote Yourself
Have a budget
Sell tangible items such as Cd’s, Flash Drives, T-shirts etc promoting your music
Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself
Play around with different genres of music so that you can reach a larger audience.
Keep God & Family first.
Stay away from drugs, as a treatment nurse, I know that this Opioid and Fentanyl epidemic is getting out of control and claiming a lot of young lives.

How do you feel about originality? It’s important to be who you are, be yourself. I am very much Patricia M. Goins everyday without apologies. I am unscripted, uncut, and uncensored. I express myself freely in a way that gives me peace. Playing copy cat is not how you set yourself apart. If everyone is doing the same thing, how will they be recognized in an overcrowded, over saturated industry?

Is there anything else we should know about you? or Something
that you would like to add? I absolutely love music. Music is a universal language. My goal is to get my music into the speakers of music lovers from around the world. For me, I want the listeners to not only enjoy the melody and the beat, but also listen to the lyrics. Alot of my songs have a message like my song “Whatever Happened To Music”. I was out in LA in March 2023 and loved it. I would love to travel around the world performing. For booking my email is onthemoveshow@hotmail.com. You can also watch my movies on Youtube or order my books from my book website or other online bookstores such as LuLu.com. I wrote 7 books. Three of the books are part of a three book series about a fictional domestic violence shelter in Atlanta, Georgia called “The Love House”. My last two published books are The Symbol and Swingerz. The movie to the first book This Can’t Be Love is on Youtube. I am a woman of many talents. I guess you can call me Superwoman. lol, I have gotten to where I am now through the grace of God.
